Adult ADHD or...

Is it ADD?

I can't keep up with the latest clinical or politically correct term. It changes as fast as I have to change diapers around these neck of the woods I like to call Applehouse95! Ok...for those of you that don't know the 95 is the year Me and the poor, innocent, oh-so-sweet, man named Keith said "I DO!"

Now as for my question...I need to know when do you decide to label, or just admit that is what you have? When I say "you" I mean "me." Do you go see a doctor, a psychiatrist or psychologist? Ok...here's the deal...I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my life. I am amazed what God has blessed me with daily which I oh-so-DO NOT deserve. However....I just can't seem to stay focused. I wake up with "good intentions." I start most days with prayer most of the time with my husband, a good word from the Bible, and even some praise music...Ok...maybe some pop, rock, jazz, or country music to get me moving. Or just a good 3-5 mile run if I can get up before the crack of dawn. Geez...I am not that much of a goody-2-shoes. I like to have a little fun...

I also have THE LIST....you know the TO DO LIST organized and ready to tackle for the day. Yet...I might....when I say might...I mean might get 1 to 2 things done and done RIGHT!
Then before I know it I have run around in circles like one of those dogs you see chasing their own tails and before I know it... it is time to go to bed and I find myself wondering...
What did I do today?

Does this make me an Adult with ADHD or ADD?

If so...I accept full responsibility because I am an Adult...at least that is what I am told!

Oh...before I forget...MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

NO! It makes you someone who watches other children all day and your own too!!! Are you crazy perhaps?!? Seriously, Betty, just keeping the children safe and out of harm's way IS A HUGE day's work. I could not do what you do. And sister, you get things done. You are a GIFTED teacher and with 5-year-olds no less. That is a major feat in and of itself!!!

Oh and you have a great sense of humor and I love your hilarious posts! There now I commented!!! Love ya!

I think it is normal....but I feel the same way and I am not normal...so I dunno.

I love you though! I think you are amazing at what you get done and in the amount of time you do it! You are a rockstar to my family....and they are usually crazy....

Betty, you definitely dont give yourself enough credit! You are superwoman and I could never get done what you do in one day! I am so thankful for everything that you do for my child and so many others. I guess it is a little sigh of relief to know that you dont get EVERYTHING done or else I would start to wonder! Love ya!

Yes! We stay-at-home and work-at-home mothers are ADD: Absolutely Devoted Divas! We are daughters of The King, which makes us Princesses, and if we could do all we set out to do without the hiccups of life, we wouldn't need Him. I have the same "problem" you have, but I recently discovered it to be a blessing and not a curse! It draws us nearer to God and makes us appreciate our friends and families. Welcome to the world of imperfect people! We're happy to have you! HaHa!

I find myself always checking out your blog...your sense of humor and outlook on life are inspiring! This blog reminded me of an email I received a while back. Don't feel bad...all mom's have this disease!

AAADD

KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -

Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder..

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed; the bills aren't paid; there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter;
the flowers don't have enough water; there is still only 1 check in my check book; I can't find the remote; I can't find my glasses;
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all darn day, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail...
