Mia is Making A Christmas Wish List

For Operation Christmas Child

Now...this is something I cannot get off my mind. Mia, my sweet six-year old, reads me some information about Samaritan's Purse/Operation Christmas Child as we are driving home from church Wednesday night. She lists off all the pertinent information about, ages of children, whether it's for a boy or a girl, their needs, their wants and that all of the items needed to put in a shoebox. Now...this is a program our church does every year around this time and I have always said, "Oh yeah, I need to do that", but sadly I never do it. So...this is also a convicting moment for me.

Immediately...she says "Mom, I have a Hello Kitty shoebox in my closet we can use, is that OK?"

I...hold back the tears of joy so that she doesn't think I am sad because that is what my children automatically think is happening when I cry...answer her with "of course it is the best shoebox ever to fill up with presents for children that probably don't ever get presents but during this time of year!"

This is one of those moments as a mom that makes you swell up with pride inside hearing that they do think of others before themselves from time to time! I mean, she is six, it is October, and she is already thinking of Christmas, (though it is around the corner), but not for what she wants, but for what other's want!

SO...this is also one of those moments as a mom that you don't put off until later as I am guilty of doing when one of my children mentions something we need to do. You moms...and dads... know what I am talking about. We say...."yeah, yeah, we will do that... but never do." Or maybe I am the only mom who does that?

Well...I can only hope that My precious Mia has more "A-HA MOMENTS" like this and I will be the first to share to all as that is what God gave us children for!!! I am also sure HER Christmas list is sure to surface soon! More on that later...

Oh wow, that is so incredible! I think it is the sweetest thing when kids do things like this. Just goes to show they dont always think of themselves after all! We love doing Angel Tree every year, I cant wait for Connor to be a part of this.
